ABOUT ME
Dr. Jesse Dugan
Dr. Dugan is a Pennsylvania licensed chiropractor and a New York Chiropractic College Graduate. Dr. Dugan utilizes a variety of techniques when working with individuals who are experiencing pain, or looking to improve performance. These techniques include: Joint mobilizations/adjustments, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Manual soft tissue release, percussive therapy, Kinesiology taping, cupping, and therapeutic exercise. Prior to his career in chiropractic he was a strength and conditioning specialist who worked with athletes of all sports, and assisted them in reaching peak physical condition, and optimizing their biomechanics in resistance training and sport. While Dr. Dugan specializes in athletes and sports related injuries, he still is available to all who are experiencing any musculoskeletal issues.
Treatment and Services
As a chiropractor, I analyze biomechanics and joint function, and how these variables can contribute to pain. It is important to identify joint dysfunction and aberrant movement patterns because they are likely to contribute to postural compensations and muscular imbalances. Moreover, these compensations and imbalances can be what is generating an individual’s pain and the root cause of their issue.
While chiropractors are known for joint manipulation there are still other modalities that we utilize in treating patients. This includes a variety of soft tissue techniques such as manual muscle release, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM), percussive therapy, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF). In addition to soft tissue techniques we also incorporate therapeutic exercises into our treatment plans. These techniques are used to treat myofascial pain, improve mobility, reduce trigger points, and to reduce adhesions within connective tissue.
Common Questions
Do you accept insurance?
While chiropractic care is typically covered by most insurance providers, reimbursement of chiropractic care is dependent on particular plans. Please contact us to learn more and see if your issue can be covered by your insurance.
What does a chiropractor typically treat?
Chiropractors treat a wide variety of neuromusculoskeletal issues including: low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, sprain/strain injuries, herniated disc, radiculopathy, extremity pain, whiplash, and chronic pain.
What should I expect during the first appointment?
During the first appointment we will conduct a thorough and in depth patient history and examination. It is crucial to observe posture and movement patterns because this will identify dysfunction, habits and behavior that could be the root cause of your issue. Once the cause of the pain and dysfunction is discovered we will begin a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs to get you back to living pain free and back to the activities your love.
What should I wear to the appointment?
It is important to wear clothing that does not restrict motion and allows us to have access to the skin around the area of complaint. Active wear or clothes you would wear for a workout are ideal attire.
